We now have our new website dedicated to PICAT. A very big thank-you to Kate for all her hard work doing this. You can find it at http://picat.online/
We have been very privileged indeed to have the support and backing of a well-known international lawyer – Professor Nick Grief and some of his colleagues who have agreed to advise us for free. Therefore on 8th September I instructed Kirsty Brimelow QC, Professor Nick Grief and Megan Hirst, all of Doughty Street Chambers, to act on behalf of all our 5 PICAT groups (Powys, Pembrokeshire, West Wales, Norwich and Sevenoaks). See the letter of instruction at http://picat.online/combined-groups/angie-zelter-letter-instructing-counsel-for-picat-8th-september-2016/
We also informed the office of the Attorney General that these lawyers were working on our behalf.
We put together and sent out more information to the Attorney-General and also added in PM Theresa May as part of the conspiracy to commit a war crime. You can see the detailed letter giving further information (it is labelled picat-letter-to-ago_1oct16_final) so just click on that line at http://picat.online/combined-groups/letter-from-picat-counsel-to-attorney-general-1-10-16-receipt-emails
On the 7th October we received confirmation from Craig Hollands at the A-G’s office that they had received everything and will let us know of any updates or responses as to the progress of the application.
If you wish to see all our correspondence with the A-G’s office then please see the various postings at http://picat.online/category/combined-groups/
So we now have to patient while we await their response. We will then consult with the lawyers and all 4 of us dealing with the 5 PICAT groups to decide upon our next steps.
Angie will be giving a talk about PICAT entitled ‘Why Nuclear Weapons Undermine The Rule of Law And What People Can Do About It’. It is organised by the Norwich PICAT group and will take place on 21st October at 7.30p.m. at the Friends Meeting House. See the poster at http://picat.online/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/PICAT-poster-3.pdf
