Dear Sirs,
I write to confirm that the Government Legal Department are now instructed to act for the Attorney General in relation to the above pre-action challenge.
I am in receipt of your pre-action letter dated 6th December 2017 to which a response is sought within three weeks i.e. by 26th December 2017. Given the time of year and that the response currently falls due on a bank holiday and within the upcoming holiday period, it is not going to be possible to finalise my client’s response by this date. Availability of both clients and counsel means that I will not be in a position to provide a substantive response until January and will aim to do so by Tuesday 24th January 2018. I trust this is in order.
